Community Generosity

Members of the Champlain Club, VT Swings, Queen City Tango, and Burlington Country Dancers communities stepped up to contribute $13,995 towards our pandemic-inspired fundraising goal of $10,000 for renovations at the Club! With no events for over 15 months, we had some time to make improvements.

Our dance hall is looking sharp with a refinished floor and fresh new colors. We have new lighting and networked sound. Updates on the first floor, from the bathrooms to the bar to a new area for coats and shoes, are moving along, too.

Led by the Building and Technology Committees, dozens of volunteers have been working on the Club since February. A local contractor refinished the floor; just about everything else was completed with hundreds of hours of volunteer time!

As for the outside, the plan is to convert the Club from a membership-based organization into a non-profit, making it eligible for historic preservation funds. Within a couple of years, we hope to have a weatherized building, efficient heating and cooling, and a beautifully renovated, historically accurate exterior.

Many thanks to everyone who gave their time and sent in donations to our gem of a community center. We could not have pulled this off without you! 💝
