After all the amazing participation from the community in several long email threads and quite a few Naming Committee meetings, the Board made a unanimous decision yesterday to re-name our historic gathering space North Star Community Hall.
Member L.C. originally proposed this name, saying, “North Star signals following your north star, which for many people is an artistic or cultural muse.” The North Star has always been a beacon for hope and freedom. The name ties in nicely to our Old North End location.
Member L.H. provided a wonderful write up in our meeting reflecting deep appreciation of Polaris, and its recognised importance across many cultures.
As a nonprofit organization (since 2021), we will continue to use the name Goethe Community Trust for legal and fundraising purposes.
